How to Identify Large Apps That Eat Up Storage on an Android Phone: Step by Step Guide

Irrespective of the storage capacity of your phone, there comes a time when Android users face the lack of space on their device and this slows down their phone. This can happen for a number of reasons, from a plethora of large cache files to unnecessary media files lying in your Android.

On the other hand, the applications that are common to every Android, especially the widely used ones like Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat, also take up a lot of space. Moreover, with each update, these applications occupy even more space on your Android device.

So, in order to identify the culprit that is taking up the most space on your phone that it is lagging behind, here are some easy steps that you need to follow.

step 1: First of all open Google Play Store in your phone and make sure you are logged in.

step 2: Then click on your profile icon in the top right corner of the page.

step 3: Next, select ‘Manage applications and devices’ from the pop-up menu.

step 4: Now, click on ‘Manage’ and a list of all the applications installed on your phone will appear.

Step 5: You can now sort applications by clicking on ‘Recently Updated’ and select ‘Size’ from there. You can also order them by their ‘name’ or ‘least used’ and ‘most used’ by selecting options from the menu.

Step 6: Once you’ve ordered them by their size, the apps taking up the most space will be listed first followed by other heavy apps.

Step 7: Now if you think that the biggest app or any other app is not of your use, you can easily uninstall it by checking the box next to the app. Multiple apps can also be selected and uninstalled at once.

Step 8: However, if you want to uninstall a particular app which is inactive yet eating up then you can also do so from your phone’s settings. For that, simply open Settings on your Android device and select the application from the ‘Applications & Notifications’ menu. Now, go ahead and click on ‘Uninstall’.
