How to Upgrade Hard Drive on Your PlayStation 4, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro?

It’s been more than eight years since Sony arrived Playstation 4 launch of. So, if you’re one of the early adopters of the gaming console series and you chose the 500GB version, you’re probably discarding your games to make room for the new ones. But if you don’t want to ditch your games to store more and buying a new console isn’t entirely on the table, you should consider upgrading your hard drive. It is quite a simple and easy process. step 1: First, you need to back up your data to a backup drive. Plug in your backup drive that has enough free storage and on your PS4 device, go to Settings > System and scroll down to find and select “Back up & restore”.

step 2: On the next screen, select the “Back up PS4” option. “Click OK. On the next screen, you will see the file name and the backup size. Click “Back Up”. The PS4 will restart and start backing up your data. This may take about an hour.

step 3: Once the backup is done, turn off your PS4 completely by long pressing the Power button. After that, disconnect the power and HDMI cables from the device.

step 4: Once everything is disconnected, put both your hands on the top removable plate and slide out. Once it slides in, stop and put the plate aside.

Step 5: There will be a screw on the corner of the hard drive. Unscrew it and eject the hard drive.

Step 6: Next, you have to open the metal case of the hard drive. There will be four screws that you need to remove.

Step 7: Next, put the new hard drive you purchased in its proper place and put all four screws back so that the new hard drive is fixed to the metal casing.

Step 8: Place the hard drive back into the metal casing on the PS4 device and reinsert the corner screw.

Step 9: Put the plate with the lid back.

Step 10: Now, you need to update your PS4’s software. Visit the PS4 System Update website and download the update file.

Step 11: Transfer the update file to a USB drive and plug it into the PS4.

Step 12: Reconnect the cables and turn on the PS4 now. Now, connect DUALSHOCK 4 by using USB cable and press PS button.

Step 13: Now scroll down and click on ‘Initialize PS4/Reinstall system software’ option. and confirm further confirmation. Now, follow the onscreen instructions.

Step 14: Once the software is updated, you need to restore your backup. Plug your backup drive in. Go to Settings > System and select Restore PS4.

step 15: Select the restore file and confirm. The restoration process will take more than an hour.

Once this is done, you will be able to access your old games on your new hard drive.
