Howrah Railway Station Food Plaza reopens after a gap of 17 months

Howrah Railway Station is one of the busiest stations across India. It sees thousands of people coming from all over India and vice versa. If you ever go to a railway station, you will find people waiting for hours to catch their trains. To cater to all those passengers, Eastern Railway is back with its Food Plaza in Howrah. According to reports, the Food Plaza will soon be open to all after a long gap of 17 months. Railway officials say the reopening of food plazas just ahead of the biggest Bengali festival, Durga Puja, will benefit many commuters.

As reported by several media outlets, the newly renovated Food Plaza is built on the ground floor of the station in 3122 square feet. It was inaugurated on 5th September, 2022 in the presence of senior officials of Eastern Railway IRCTC,

The report further states that the plaza will offer chemical-free food for daily commuters. Food will be prepared from fresh milk, rice, wheat and vegetables procured from Sundarbans Cooperative Milk and Livestock Union Ltd., an official said. More than 50 types of sweets, namkeen, namkeen etc. will be sold from the outlet. In addition you will get PizzaBurger, SandwichRolls, ice cream etc at Howrah Food Plaza.

Eastern Railway shared the news on its official Twitter handle which read (in Bengali), “Food here will be cheap and of good quality.” The post further states that the sole objective is to provide the highest quality service to the guests arriving at Howrah station.

For those unaware, the food plaza was closed during the lockdown and later opened in January. But, due to some official complications, it was later closed again. Finally, it has been renovated and will soon be opened to cater to the passenger as per the officials.
