Huge jump in Dengue cases in Delhi, 25% of this year’s cases in just one week

Delhi has recorded a huge spurt in dengue cases, with the infection being detected in over 100 people in the past one week, taking the number of vector-borne diseases in the city to nearly 400 so far this year.

According to the civic body’s report released on Monday, 152 cases have been reported in this month alone till September 17. The city had recorded 295 dengue cases till September 9.

In the last one week, 101 new cases have been reported.

Of the total 396 cases reported till September 17 this year, 75 were registered in August.

No death has been reported from this disease so far this year. Cases of vector-borne diseases are usually reported between July and November, sometimes as long as mid-December.

civic officials said cases of dengue This year was recorded earlier than usual due to favorable weather conditions for breeding mosquitoes.

Last year, the national capital recorded 9,613 dengue cases, the highest since 2015, with 23 deaths as well as the highest since 2016.
