Additional police force was deployed in parts of Hyderabad following overnight protests against suspended BJP leader and MLA T Raja Singh from Goshamahal constituency in Telangana.
“Wherever required, additional forces have been deployed. There were some protests last night. But now the situation is peaceful,” said G Biksham Reddy Assistant Commissioner of Police, Charminar news agency PTI on Wednesday.
Singh was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad in a video shared on social media, which led to an overwhelming response from all sections.
BJP hours after arrest Suspended Singh was expelled from the party and he was given a show cause notice asking why he should not be removed from the party.
“You have expressed contrary views of the party’s position on various matters, which is a clear violation of Rule XXV. 10(a) of the Constitution of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” said a letter addressed to Raja by the BJP.
“I am directed to inform you that for further investigation, you have been suspended from the party and from your responsibilities/assignment with immediate effect. Please give reasons within 10 days from the date of this notice as to why You should not be expelled from the party. Your detailed reply should reach the undersigned by 2nd September 2022,” the letter further read.
However, he was released on bail after the 14ACMM Court returned his remand application and ordered his release.
After his release, protests broke out in different parts of the city on Tuesday night and the police had to step up security in the city.
Reports claimed that various MLAs of AIMIM tried to argue for showing black flags to Muslim youths in different parts of the city, including the old city.
