Sadhguru said that he was on a world tour and was overwhelmed to see the lush green cover as he entered the state of Telangana.
Speaking after launching the Green India Challenge (GIC) 5.0 on the outskirts of Hyderabad along with GIC founder and MP Joginpalli Santosh Kumar, the spiritual guru said that indiscriminate use of chemicals will destroy the life of the earth and it will affect the coming generations. would be a great danger.
Sadhguru said that there is no substitute for earth and soil. He expressed strong hope for the conservation of earth and soil and gifted them to the generations to come.
As part of the Save the soil movement, Sadhguru began his journey from Hyderabad to Bengaluru on Thursday. On his way, the spiritual guru planted saplings in the Golluru forest areas of Shamshabad and announced the launch of Green India Challenge- 5.0.
Sadhguru praised Santosh Kumar for doing a great job of tree plantation program and played the role of a role model for the youth. He stressed the need to educate people about the importance of conserving nature and environment. He said that the goal of GIC and Save Oil is the same i.e. protection of the earth.
Santosh said that with the inspiration of Telangana Ku Haritha Haram, the brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he started the Green India Challenge four years ago to spread awareness about greenery across the country. He expressed his gratitude to all for making each program started under GIC a huge success. He is happy to have Sadhguru’s blessings and will start some more innovative programs in future.
On the lines of the Yadadri model plantation, the Green India challenge with the support of the Telangana State Forest Department has taken up the task of improving the green cover by growing larger plants in Golluru where forest cover has been depleted. In the first phase, fencing work in 900 acres of forest area has been completed. Under Green India Challenge 5.0, 10,000 saplings have been planted at a time to revive the forest area.
Sadhguru, his supporters, members of Isha Foundation, school students and local people also participated in large numbers in the tree plantation programme.
