Another case of alleged rape of a minor has come to light in Hyderabad. A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man on April 20 when she went to a birthday party. The incident comes close on the heels of the high-profile case of raping a minor in Hyderabad, in which the sons of politicians have been made accused.

An orphan girl, who lived in a childcare facility, went to a classmate’s birthday party on Necklace Road. However, she did not inform the hostel warden about this and said that she was going to her college with three other girls of the hostel.

At the party, she met another friend named Suresh, who worked at a stationery shop. The girl had introduced Suresh earlier also and used to meet regularly. Suresh also gifted her a mobile phone.

According to the complaint lodged by the hostel warden, during the party on April 20, Suresh asked the girl to talk to him in the parking lot. However, once there, Suresh allegedly forced the girl to sit inside a car and raped her.

A complaint was filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act and the accused was arrested.
