The Ioniq 5 is one of the best EVs to come out of Asia
Hyundai has revealed that in the US the EPA has rated the Ioniq 5 with a range of 488 km ahead of its US launch, but this is for the longer-range model. Hyundai has also revealed that the car will be launched in India in the future. It comes with an 800-volt powertrain based on the Hyundai E-GMP platform that also allows bidirectional charging allowing the user to power other electronics.
It comes in different trims with RWD and AWD on both battery packs – one packs 58 kWh for the standard model and a 72.6 kWh pack, though Hyundai is offering an even larger 77.4 kWh battery pack in the North American market.
Deliveries for the car have already started in Korea and Europe and will soon launch in the US. The EPA rating is a ratification for the impressive WLTP rating achieved in Europe as it is more stringent and more in alignment with real-world use. Even for the standard model, the EPA has said that the car gets a decent range of 412 km which is more than enough for normal usage.
