Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV breaks 600km range barrier: Company’s most aero-efficient car – Times of India

Hyundai Motor Company has announced that its upcoming Ioniq 6 electric sedan has achieved a range of 614 km as per Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) standards. The company attributes a large part of this achievement to the EV’s ultra-low wind resistance. Thanks to its streamlined design, the Ioniq 6 has a drag coefficient of 0.21, the lowest ever in Hyundai’s entire line-up.

The Ionic 6 is based on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that delivers optimized electrical performance and supports 800V fast charging. It can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. At launch, the EV will be offered in two configurations, a long range variant with a 77.4 kW battery pack and a short range variant with a 53 kW battery pack. The low range version offers a maximum range of 429 km.

Byung Hoon Min, Head of the Total Vehicle Performance Development Center at Hyundai Motor Company, said, “Our focus on improving aerodynamics has helped us achieve one of the longest all-electric range vehicles available, which addresses the concerns of customers’ EV range. and will help in growing the segment.”

Hyundai Ionic 6 The EV is set for sale in North American and European markets in 2023. Meanwhile, the company is reportedly gearing up to launch the facelifted Kona EV and will locally assemble the Ionic 5 EV in India when it is launched. There has been no official statement from Hyundai as to whether the Ioniq 6 will hit Indian shores any time soon.
