Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson in his conversation with Gaurav Kapoor revealed that every one of his lessons comes from Rahul Dravid. Samson spoke candidly about his journey on the popular cricket chat show Breakfast with Champions, stating that everything Rahul Dravid had told him till date, he had noted down everything in a notebook.

He further added that the Rajasthan camp is one of the top camps for the development of a young cricketer as the team environment teaches humility among other things to a player.

Speaking about how he got to Rajasthan, Samson said that he was at his best during those two days of testing and had never batted better in his entire life.

“I batted in the trials for two days, and I have never been able to meet the standards of those two days in my entire life. I hit a shot and a voice came from behind, ‘What a shot. Shot Sanju,’ said the right hand.

He spoke about his time with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and how Rahul Dravid’s presence as batting coach helped him grow.

Sanju said, “All of us along with Rahul Dravid had such an experience to learn from him.

“The 3-4 years I spent with him, I think I have asked him almost everything. Everything is still written in my notebook. After talking to him, I would go back to my room and quickly write down what he said,” revealed Samson.

Sanju Samson has done extremely well with the Rajasthan Royals since taking over as the captaincy. Samson not only scored more runs and found consistency while batting, scoring 484 runs last season – his personal best in IPL. He has been in good form in the current season of the Indian Premier League, scoring 298 runs in 10 matches in 2022.
