‘I must be doing something right’, says Deepika Padukone about her Cannes 2022 stay

Deepika Padukone, who is serving on the jury of the 75th Cannes Film Festival, said that “it gives me goosebumps every time I walk into the Palace and we go – it makes me laugh because every single person in that seat.” Cinema is meant to be celebrated. Deepika was familiar with the work of some of her fellow jurors, including Asghar Farhadi and Rebecca Hall, but not all.

“I was not completely familiar with all of them, as is the case with all the jury members,” Deepika told IANS. “I think what we all did was really read to our fellow jurors and see some of their work. So, when you consider, you understand where they’re coming from, or what kind. The actress sees the Cannes jury as a natural progression of her journey, but being invited at the same time was a surprise to her. “They (the festival management) are so convinced about why they made this decision. And it makes me sit back and think sometimes that maybe I haven’t given myself enough credit,” he said: “If I land here today, without realizing it, I must be doing something right.”
