ICICIDirect website, app shut down for a while, investor anger

Investment platform ICICIDirect users on Wednesday faced problems while executing trades on an “unprecedented network problem”, according to several complaints on the social media platform.

Users had to see a message on the ICICIDirect website which said, “Dear Customer, ICICIDirect.com will not be available till 9th ​​February 2022 at 10:00 AM. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.”

After facing investor anger on Twitter over the issues and the website not working, ICICIDirect tweeted: “Due to an unprecedented network issue, you may be experiencing intermittent issues accessing your ICICIDirect account. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

Services remained affected till around 9.30 am as many users were unable to log in. The problem was resolved before 10am and full functionality was restored.

Later, the company tweeted that it has resolved the issue as the website and app are working normally.

It had tweeted, “ICICIdirect Markets app, website and mobile app is now live and all issues are resolved. Please login to your ICICIdirect account. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

Earlier in the day, a user tweeted, “@ICICI_Direct Website still not working properly, watch list price not updating, graphs not updating, very pathetic since last 2 hours .

Another user tweeted, “One of the most expensive brokers and yet down in times of crisis. Failed to provide better service to their clients. @ICICI_Direct.”
