The big screen is magical and these movies connect us with their stories, music and the emotions they evoke so easily. For us car and bike enthusiasts, there’s one more thing that worries us about them – the vehicles driven by the characters. How many times do you look at a car and shout its name out loud, leaving people around you bewildered? If you have experienced it, we have decided to list down some of the most iconic cars and bikes from Indian movies here today.

Willys CJ-3B – Aradhana

The sight of Rajesh Khanna wooing Sharmila Tagore while driving on the picturesque roads in Darjeeling is unforgettable. Do you know that the car he was in was a Willys CJ3B jeep that my Mahindra made. The car was, in fact, a left-hand drive, which was clearly visible in the film’s photos, featuring a 3-speed gearbox and four-wheel drive. Who doesn’t want to go back in time to the kind of swag that Rajesh Khanna did while sitting in a vintage jeep?

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL-24 – Dil Chahta Hai

Dil Chahta Hai did for Goa what Yash Chopra did for Switzerland during his time. And the faithful vehicle that Farhan Akhtar chose to transport his three lead actors in beach conditions was the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL-24. A model from the early 1990s, this beautiful car is still a treat for the eyes, especially since modern cars rarely feature such a classic design.

Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R – Dhoom

John Abraham’s final act of riding his Hayabusa GSX1300R over a cliff still leaves bike lovers gasping, but don’t worry, as no Hayabusa were actually harmed in the making of the Dhoom. The bike acquired iconic status in India after the success of the film. Sadly, the same cannot be said for the yellow colored Suzuki Bandit that Uday Chopra used in the same flick.

Buick Super Convertible – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

The Akhtar siblings love their road movies, so we got another three-friends story from Zoya that made another car quite famous in India. It was the Buick Super Convertible that the character of Abhay Deol chooses to cruise on the spectacular highways of Spain.

Honda CBR 1100 CC – Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai

The iconic scene in which Hrithik Roshan’s second character is portrayed in the film is memorable because of the lovely bike he was riding. It was a white colored Honda CBR 1100 CC, which has now been retired by the company.

Toyota MR2 – Tarzan: The Wonder Car

Though the film was childish and spoiled, it still managed to garner crowds in the theatres, mainly because of the ride that attracted the audience. It was a modified car by Dilip Chhabria and was based on the Toyota MR2.
