New Delhi: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) announced on Saturday that the first-ever board exams for class 10 and 12 will be conducted in offline mode.

The council also released a revised date sheet according to which the ICSE exam for class 10 will begin from November 29 and for class 12 (ISC) from November 12.

The exams will end on December 16 and 20, respectively.

The CISCE had last week announced the postponement of the first-ever examinations, citing reasons “beyond its control”. Earlier, the class 10 and 12 exams were scheduled to begin from November 15 and 16, respectively.

CISCE Chief Executive Gerry Arathoon said, “CISCE has received several mails from heads of schools, parents and students, who expressed their difficulties and apprehensions when the first semester examinations were conducted online.”

Arathoon said that non-availability of equipment, erratic power supply and network and bandwidth problems were among the major reasons cited by students and parents for not conducting online exams.

“After much deliberation, we decided that the exam will be conducted in offline mode in their respective schools. Detailed guidelines will be announced soon,” he said.
