‘If they are honest…’: BJP on ED, CBI probe of K Kavita, Sisodia, Tejashwi Yadav

As the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation probe several opposition leaders, the BJP has dismissed allegations of political rivalry. Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Saturday said that when faced with an investigation, they are either playing the victim or the emotional card. The remarks come after Kavitha, daughter of BRS MLC and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, appeared before the ED in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy ‘scam’.

“If it is an honest person, who is not involved in any law-abiding act, he will clearly say so without ifs or buts. But K Kavita is being questioned and he has not said anything like that. They will play the victim card but will not answer the questions of the public.”

“It should be asked again whether he has anything to do with Indospirits. If he has anything to do with Buchi Babu, he will have to say it. It seems that this corruption is so big that when all the links are getting connected, people are also feeling sad that these corrupt people looted them and filled their coffers.

Lalu Prasad Yadav had only one slogan, you give me a plot, I will give you a job. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that everyone has released their model of corruption, today when action has been taken against them, they all are united.

“In nine years of rule did only one woman get rights? When embroiled in serious allegations of corruption and scams, you remember the issue of women empowerment. Were you so successful in reducing loot in Telangana that you decided to reach Delhi as well?” he asked in reference to BRS MLC Kavitha’s query.

Earlier this month, both the CBI and the ED had questioned and later arrested former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Meanwhile, former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi were questioned by the CBI earlier this week and fresh summons were issued to their younger son and Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. The ED also raided several premises – including the homes of his three daughters and a daughter-in-law.

The ‘crack’ in the opposition ranks has sparked outrage with several top leaders attacking the BJP-led administration.

“It is an open secret that investigative agencies are working against political opponents of the BJP and helping those who agree to align with that party,” Tejashwi alleged earlier this week. .” He insisted that his father had “no power” to give him employment in return for favors as railway minister.

He said, ‘BJP’s aim is to make India a country without opposition. They want India to have one party and one leader, and they want to put every politician in jail. They want India to turn into an autocracy,” AAP leader Raghav Chadha said.

The Congress has also supported its fellow opposition parties, with senior leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accusing the BJP-led government of working to “suppress” its critics. “Why is the BJP government so scared of the outspoken voice of the opposition?” she asked in a tweet on Saturday.
