IGBC recognizes ABB India as ‘Leader in Mass Adoption of Green Factory Buildings in India’

ABB India on Saturday announced that it has been awarded the 9th Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Champion Award under the category of ‘Pioneer in Mass Adoption of Green Factory Building in India’.

The annual Green Champion Award is an honor given by IGBC, which is part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), to recognize and honor organizations that have embraced sustainable goals and have the ability to inspire others, So that the green building movement in India can be taken forward.

IGBC has certified four of ABB India’s five manufacturing locations as green. With the Green Factory Building approach, ABB India is further strengthening its existing environmental initiatives based on the requirements of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) to make all its plants and offices more sustainable. All of ABB India’s manufacturing and office locations use renewable energy, which reduces more than 80% of total carbon emissions, supporting its commitment to carbon neutral operations, the company said in a statement.

ABB India has improved water recycling by about 25% in Q3’22 over the previous year, resulting in a reduction in freshwater withdrawals from the company’s overall water footprint thereby contributing to setting up a water-positive/neutral campus Can go The company recycles approximately 95% of the waste generated from all its facilities on its grounds to meet its long-term sustainability goals from zero waste to landfill, the statement said.
