IGL hikes CNG, PNG prices

Indraprastha Gas Limited on Tuesday hiked the prices of both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in several cities. PNG will now be Rs. 38.37 per scm in Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Shamli, and CNG now costs Rs. 65.02 per kg in Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand. The revised rates will be applicable from 06:00 am on October 13.

IGL announced on Twitter, “CNG will be priced at Rs 65.02 per kg in Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand from 6 am on October 13, 2021.” “PNG price in Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Shamli to be Rs 38.37 per SCM from 13 October 2021”, read another tweet.

IGL had earlier increased the prices of domestic PNG with effect from October 2. The consumer price of PNG supplied to households in Delhi was increased by Rs 2.10 per cubic meter to Rs 33.01 per scm. The applicable price of domestic PNG has been reduced to Rs 32.86 per scm for households in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

“The revision in retail prices of CNG and domestic PNG has been made only to marginally offset the impact of the increase in the price of domestically produced natural gas and increasing dependence on costly R-LNG.”

IGL said the hike will have a marginal impact on the per kilometer running cost of vehicles. This increase will be 6 paise per km for autos, 11 paise for taxis and Rs 1.65 per km in case of buses. I

With the revised price compared to vehicles running on alternative fuels at the current level of prices, CNG will still offer savings of over 60 per cent in running cost.
