IGNOU starts 3 Masters programs in Journalism

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched three specialized master’s degree programs in journalism – MA in Development Journalism, MA in Journalism and Electronic Media, MA in Journalism and Digital Media and PG Diploma in Advertising and Integrated Communication.

The courses will be available for admission from the current academic session, January 2023. IGNOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Nageswara Rao launched the three programs at a function on January 6, 2023. These programs will be offered through open and distance mode through various regional centres. Of IGNOU.

In his remarks at the inaugural ceremony, Professor Rao remarked, “These programs are offered by the School of Journalism and New Media Studies to support the students’ desire to specialize in a particular area of ​​journalism. These programs are supported by IGNOU are offered with various lateral departure and entry options, so that students can continue their studies whenever it is most convenient for them.”

“The School is already running a Common Master’s Program in Journalism and Mass Communication, the same is being offered in open and distance mode as well as online. This special general program is offered in three languages ​​- English, Hindi and Tamil.

Former Editorial Director of Aaj Tak Qamar Waheed Naqvi, Former Director of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Professor JS Yadav, Editor of Nuez Alok Verma, Professor Jayashree Jehwani, UN Strategic Communications Adviser for Asia Pacific Dr Deepak Gupta present during the event and appreciated the University for starting the special programme.

During the event, Professor Arul Selvan, Director, School of Journalism and New Media Studies, delivered a welcome address and other faculty members of the school introduced the newly launched programmes.
