IIFL HFC signs $68 million loan with ADB for green housing

IIFL HFL said it has signed a $68 million loan with ADB to improve financial access to affordable green housing for low-income groups in India. The funding includes a direct ADB loan of up to $58 million and a $10 million concessional loan by the Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector (CFPS) in Asia. From ADB’s loans, 80% will be earmarked for lending to female borrowers or co-borrowers and 20% will be allocated to finance mortgages for Green-certified homes. The CFPS loan IIFL will support HFL’s green housing portfolio, particularly towards encouraging developers to adopt green certification standards in the construction of affordable housing.
