IIM-B Convocation: 690 graduate students; won 9 gold medals

After a gap of two years, the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) hosted its 47th convocation on the campus. A total of 690 students graduated from the institute in various programmes, out of which nine were awarded gold medals.

One lesson from the two years of the pandemic is that change is constant, said co-founder and managing partner of AZB & Partners, who was the chief guest. In a virtual address to the graduating students, she said: “You had to achieve academic success amidst the COVID-19 challenge, and you braved all the storms and came out ahead. We look forward to seeing more unicorns, more distinguished scholars, more successful CEOs from your batch.

He advised the students to follow their calling and passion to succeed and reject mediocrity. Stating that money, while important, was not the only determinant, he said, “If you love something you will excel in it, and money will follow.”

Regarding work-life balance, he said, “There is nothing like a perfect work/life balance. Everything is measured by the priority you give, and sometimes the sacrifices you make on the road to success.” He also called upon to give something back to the society through charity.

Virtually attending the convocation, Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman, Board of Directors, IIM-B lauded the institute and all its stakeholders, who had adapted to face the pandemic by maintaining excellent academic standards.

In his message to the graduating students, he said: “Embrace change, don’t resist it. Take advantage of any opportunity arising out of a rapidly changing environment and always try to change things for the better. Honesty.” Or never compromise on transparency. Have a deep understanding of technological trends and their implications.”

Professor Hrishikesh T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore highlighted some of the achievements and achievements of the institute with special focus on programmes, centres, events, entrepreneurship center NSRCEL, placements as well as achievements of students and teachers. IIM-B is once again in the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings in the Business and Management Studies category, ranking at #63 globally and #1 in India.

“I am particularly happy and proud that our scores on academic and research parameters are improving every year. This QS ranking reflects IIM-B’s vision to become a globally renowned educational institution in Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Business , reflecting to promote excellence for the government and the society,” he said.

He said that in the new campus, which may become functional next year, IIM-B will offer UG programs in multiple disciplines with liberal arts flavor in keeping with the orientation of the National Education Policy, 2020.

Among the graduating students, 11 were from Doctoral Programme, 488 from PG Program in Management, 76 from Executive PG Program in Management, 75 from PG Program in Enterprise Management, and 40 from PG Program in Business Analytics.
