The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong on Friday inaugurated the ongoing Business Management Certificate Program for Defense Officers. The purpose of the 6-month certificate program is to train executives in analytical, strategic and entrepreneurial thinking.
Through interactive lectures, case studies, sessions with industry experts, management games, Simulation, and student participation, the curriculum seeks to provide the Indian Defense Forces with an emphasis on experiential learning.
Elaborating on the relevance of the programme, Prof DP Goel, Director, IIM Shillong said, “The program will be based on the skills defense officers already possess as a result of their years. Outstanding service to the nation, allows them to utilize classroom activities and interact with peers to further enhance their skills. The program provides an opportunity to update and refresh their skills using the latest, rapidly evolving technologies. It is a specialized curriculum designed to equip Defense Commanders with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding for a seamless transition into the business world.”
Dr. Goyal stressed upon all those present that they should approach the six months course like students irrespective of their respective positions or titles and try to understand and learn from each other.
