IIT Hyderabad creates COVID-19 tracker to offer coronavirus updates in Indian languages

IIT Hyderabad launches portal to provide one stop COVID-19 related information (Representational Image)

The portal will display daily updates on the number of cases, vaccinations and tests for each state in India. Some important updates are available in 10 Indian languages

From the number of cases in your location to the number of people who have been vaccinated. Future predictions for cases (including post-Omicron scenarios) using the SUTRA model for external links to the Coin dashboard for vaccination data, a new portal developed by IIT Hyderabad All COVID-19 related updates will be in one place, that too in local languages. The portal ‘covid19tracker.in’ will be available in 10 languages.

The Covid-19 Tracker has been created using the public code base of the covid19india.org website. The website was launched in 2020, however was shut down in October 2021. “Knowing how important this information is to all Indians (researchers, students and the public), the Director of IIT Hyderabad authorized a team of developers at IIT-Hyderabad to work from 1st November onwards,” in an official statement. The tracker has gone beyond the original website as it will offer predictions for the future course of the pandemic generated by the SUTRA consortium, of which IIT Hyderabad is a member. The tracker also offers projections for Omicron’s later scenario. IIT plans to incorporate a search feature to uncover trends and raise alerts when required.

Our site has attracted a lot of traffic even though it was recently built. In fact, we have noted with pleasure that the Worldometers website for India Uses only two sources: our site, and that of MoHFW. I congratulate Professor Bhimarjun Reddy Tamma and his team and Professor Vidyasagar for their advice to build such an impressive site in such a short span of time.
