Ilkar IC rejects Air India CEO role, says Tata spokesperson

The RSS has called on the Center to stop the appointment of Ilkar I as the CEO of Air India.

new Delhi: Turkey’s Ilkar Aysi has refused to become the chief executive officer of Tata’s Air India, a Tata spokesperson told Reuters on Tuesday, days after his appointment was announced, days after protests erupted in India.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the BJP’s ideological mentor, has called on the government to stop the appointment of Mr. Ayci as chief executive of Air India, citing his past political ties in Turkey, which has partnered with New Delhi. Relations have been strained.

A spokesperson for India’s Tatas, which recently acquired debt-laden Air India in a $2.4 billion equity and debt deal, confirmed the development without sharing further details. Calls to Mr. IC remained unanswered.
