Kochi (Kerala) [India]Dec 5 (ANI): Hours after the offer made by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state president PC Chacko, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor made it clear that he is not going to NCP. Tharoor also said that no such issue was discussed with PC Chacko.
Shashi Tharoor reacted to Chacko’s remarks while talking to reporters in Kochi today.
Tharoor said, ‘If I am going there, I should be welcomed. I am not going to NCP. Such matters were not discussed with PC Chacko.”
It was a matter of yesterday that Chacko, who has been in the Congress for a long time, welcomed Tharoor to his party in Kannur. The NCP leader said, “If Congress MP Shashi Tharoor joins the NCP, we will warmly welcome him.” Shashi Tharoor will continue to be the MP of Thiruvananthapuram even if the Congress party rejects him. I don’t know why the Congress is ignoring Tharoor.
Chacko also said, “Shashi Tharoor is the only Congress leader capable of challenging the BJP. Can any Congress leader in Kerala express the opinion expressed by Shashi Tharoor on the issue of construction of Vizhinjam port. This is an example of Tharoor’s political maturity. Can any Congress leader in Kerala hold such an opinion?”
“Shashi Tharoor will continue to be the Thiruvananthapuram MP even if the Congress rejects him. But Congress is the only party which does not understand this. I don’t know why Congress is ignoring Tharoor and is it because of jealousy.
The proposal from Chacko came amid reports of infighting within the state unit of the Congress after Tharoor actively participated in events and held meetings with religious and political leaders across the state. (ANI)
