Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of South Arabian Sea, entire Maldives and adjoining areas of Lakshadweep and some more parts of Comorin region.

According to the latest meteorological indications, the westerly winds in the lower levels over South Arabian Sea have intensified and deepened. According to satellite imagery, the number of clouds has increased Kerala Coast and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea. Hence, conditions are becoming favorable for the onset of Monsoon over Kerala during the next two-three days, as stated in the weather bulletin.

Under the influence of westerly winds from the Arabian Sea over south peninsular India, widespread light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely over the state during the next few days, the bulletin said.

The detailed forecast issued by the IMD said that the state is likely to receive normal rains till June 2 and below normal in the following week.

IMD has also issued yellow alert in seven districts Thiruvananthapuram Scattered heavy rain warning for Idukki on Sunday. Meanwhile, Mannarkad in Palakkad recorded the highest rainfall of 9 cm in the last 24 hours ended Friday morning, followed by Kanjirapuzha (7 cm) and Meenangadi (7 cm) in Wayanad.
