The Twitter handle of the India Metrological Department (IMD) was hacked on the evening of 9 April. However, it was later reinstated, the IMD said.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the hacking.
The hacking comes at a time when the IMD handle is attracting a lot of traffic due to the ongoing scorching heat in some parts of India.
