In the grip of Kovid-19 in KGF College, 32 students infected

Health and Medical Education Minister K. Sudhakar said he would soon visit KGF’s Noorunnisa Institute of Nursing College, where a COVID-19 cluster has been reported. The minister said that 32 students have been infected in this college and all of them have returned from Kerala.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the minister said that he would visit the college and take action against the college management for not following the COVID-19 protocol properly.

Meanwhile, Health Commissioner KV Trilok Chandra has directed Kolar District Health Officer Jagdish to issue a notice to the college management seeking information about the infected students.

The commissioner said that all nursing and other educational institutions in Kolar district will be inspected to find out whether students from Kerala, Tamil Nadu or any other state have reached there recently.

Dr. Sudhakar said that after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s announcement of mandatory one-week institutional quarantine for the people of Kerala, the state will soon issue similar guidelines for those arriving by train or flights.

“Many people travel from Kerala to the border districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi every day for education, treatment, livelihood and various other activities. We will also issue guidelines for mandatory institutional quarantine of passengers arriving via trains and flights,” he said.
