In the review meeting, DYCM banned development works in Nagpur district. Nagpur News – Times of India

Nagpur: In the first six months of this financial year, the district has spent only Rs 27.24 lakh for development works, while the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi-led state government allocated Rs 858.7 crore under the District Planning Committee (DPC) .
After the regime change, the Eknath Shinde-led government stopped all the works sanctioned by the previous government. On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the District Guardian Minister, announced the cancellation of the state government’s stay and directed the district administration to expedite the process of development works.
Fadnavis, presiding over the first review meeting of the DPC, also rejected the plea of the authorities for an extension of at least four months (after the end of the year) to complete the developments affected by the moratorium.
Of the Rs 858.7 crore allocated by the MVA government, Rs 221 crore has been earmarked for various works. 4.35 crore has been disbursed till the end of August, 2022.
The Deputy Chief Minister praised the administration of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) and Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for their service during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also announced to provide additional funds for two medical institutions.
He expressed concern over quoting of less than 30% of the estimates by the contractors for several civil works resulting in substandard works. Fadnavis said that from now onwards the concerned officers who sanction the work will be held accountable. He also asked the officials to conduct a study of women self-help groups from the palace and provide financial assistance.

‘Unauthorized constructions will be investigated’

“Soon, steps will be taken to legalize illegal constructions in the metro area subject to court orders. The implementation of Gunthewadi in the metro area is in progress. But the survey will be done without any haste. Adequate care will be taken to ensure that illegal construction is not encouraged,” Fadnavis told media persons after the DPC meeting.
