In UP event, PM will hand over helicopters, drones made in India to the army

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over India-made combat helicopters, drones and advanced electronic warfare suits to the armed services chiefs during the Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi on Friday.

The three-day Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv, which began today, is part of the Centre’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations to mark the 75th year of independence.

According to a government statement, the Prime Minister will hand over the Light Combat Helicopter, designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, to the Air Force Chief. He will hand over the drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) manufactured by the Indian start-ups to the Chief of the Army Staff and the Advanced Electronic Warfare Suites, manufactured by the Defense Research and Development Organization for ships, to the Navy Chief.

The Prime Minister handed over India-made equipment to the Chiefs of Armed Services with an aim to emphasize on taking forward his Atmanirbhar Bharat in the defense sector, the government release said.

Apart from handing over the equipment to the army chiefs, the prime minister will lay the foundation stone for a Rs 400 crore project at the Jhansi node of the UP Defense Industrial Corridor to build a propulsion system for anti-tank guided missiles.

PM Modi will also launch the National Cadet Corps Alumni Association and as a former cadet, he will be enrolled as the first member of the union. The Prime Minister will also launch the National Program of Simulation Training for NCC Cadets to augment the training facilities for the three wings of the NCC.

He will also dedicate electronic kiosks to the nation for the National War Memorial which are powered by augmented reality. This will enable visitors to pay floral tributes to soldiers killed in action through the click of a button.
