Lucknow: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday hit out at former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Azamgarh’s Lok Sabha constituency after he addressed a public rally at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a state university.

He reprimanded Yadav mainly for his 31 October statement On Muslim League leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah, where he compared the ‘Father of Pakistan’ with Indian freedom fighters while speaking about his fight for India’s independence.

“As the election season is approaching, Akhilesh Yadav is seeing greatness in Muhammad Ali Jinnah. There are so many people from the minority community here, is there anyone here who sees greatness in Jinnah?” Shah said.

Shah said the BJP government brought ‘JAM’ for Jan Dhan account, ‘A’ for Aadhaar, ‘M’ for mobile phone. “Now, the SP also says that they brought a jam, which is ‘J’ for Jinnah, ‘A’ for Azam Khan and M for Mukhtar (Ansari),” he said. “You tell me, do you want our ‘Jam’ or the Samajwadi Party?”

Azam Khan is a senior, controversial SP leader who has represented the Azamgarh Assembly seat several times and is currently in jail for alleged money laundering. Ansari is a five-time MLA who is currently in jail. and faces more than 50 casesIncluding alleged murder and kidnapping. He Merged His party in the SP in 2016 before returning to the Bahujan Samaj Party.

Shah also appreciated the Yogi Adityanath government of the state for creating Purvanchal.Machar and Mafia MuktiOr freed from “mosquitoes and mafia”, with “action” on dengue and criminal elements.

“The districts of Eastern UP around Gorakhpur were suffering from deadly Japanese Encephalitis due to the apathy of the previous governments towards cleanliness. Yogi eliminated both the problems by promptly executing all the plans and programs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said, referring to the annual outbreak of encephalitis in this area.

He then made a pitch for voters to choose the BJP from five assembly constituencies in Azamgarh. “I have said earlier that we never got enough assembly seats in Azamgarh but Now it is too much (Enough is enough now). I am asking you to give all the assembly seats here to BJP so that Yogi Adityanath can be made the Chief Minister again.

Yogi advocated to change the name of Azamgarh

In his address, Adityanath referred to the “demand to change the name of Azamgarh to Aryamgarh”. “The new state university will ensure that Azamgarh definitely becomes Aryamgarh,” he said.

Azamgarh may have given two former chief ministers or sent them to the Lok Sabha, but because of them the identity of Azamgarh has always been diminished. Before 2014, a person from Azamgarh had problem of getting a hotel room anywhere in the country… there was identity crisis,” he said.

The new state university will be named after Maharaja Suheldev. who Defeated The invading army of Ghazi Sayyid Salar Masud, nephew of Mahmud Ghazni, in the 11th century.
