In UP’s Jaunpur, BSP MP and BJP MLA claim credit for construction of same road

Two people’s representatives – an MP and an MLA – have taken the credit for laying the foundation stone of a 5.9-km-long road in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. There are two plaques on the road – one in the name of Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) MP Shyam Singh Yadav from Jaunpur, and the other in the name of Girish Chandra Yadav, UP minister and BJP MLA from Jaunpur Sadar seat. The foundation stone for the construction of the same road was laid twice by these leaders on different occasions before the 2022 UP assembly elections.

Both the leaders have claimed that the road is being constructed due to their efforts. Both also claim that with their efforts the people of Jaunpur will soon get a smooth road in their area.

On September 12, UP minister Girish Chand Yadav laid the foundation stone of the road. On October 5, BSP MP Shyam Singh Yadav again laid the foundation stone of the same 5.9 km long road. Plaques bearing the names of these leaders have been put up next to each other. The road is being constructed by the Department of Rural Engineering, Government of UP.

The BSP MP has also tweeted his pictures while laying the foundation stone for the construction of Gabhiran to Kalapur Nauli road in Khuthan block of Jaunpur. In the tweet, he said that this road is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore 18 lakh. The road construction is to be completed by May 2022.

MP Shyam Singh Yadav said that he has proposed to the central government for this road.

“There are a total of 11 such roads in the district which are being built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. It seems that UP minister Girish Chandra has no idea about protocol and enjoys taking credit for the work of others,” he said.

Accusing BJP minister Girish Chandra of violating protocol, Shyam Singh said that he will file an FIR against him.
