The ongoing Mango Mela 2022 in the city received a warm response from the public.

In all, 16 varieties of mangoes have been displayed in 26 stalls set up at Kuppanna Park near JC Wadiyar circle.

Organized by District Administration and Horticulture Department in association with Mysuru District Panchayat, it was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Bagadi Gautam. He said that various types of fruits would be displayed in the three-day fair which would be available to the general public at a price less than the current market price.

The DC said that mangoes have been cultivated on 7,887 acres of land in the district and about 35 tonnes of the fruit is produced annually. He said that the Mela is an attempt to bring the producers and consumers on one platform.

Farmers from Mysore, Mandya, Ramanagaram, Chikkaballapura, Kanakapura etc. are participating in the fair that ends on Sunday. Mysore Zilla Panchayat CEO BR Poornima, ADC Manjunathaswamy, Assistant Director Horticulture Naveen and others were present.
