The Income Tax Department on Tuesday said that software services provider Infosys has been directed to look into the issue related to faulty search option on the e-filing portal.

After several users complained of problems while accessing the IT portal and reported that it was hacked on Tuesday, which also happens to be the portal’s first launch anniversary, the department said that Infosys will address the issue on priority. doing.

“The issue regarding the search functionality of the e-filing website has come to our notice. The Income Tax Department has seized the matter. @Infosys has been directed to look into this and @Infosys has confirmed that they are resolving the issue on priority,” the IT department tweeted.

Finance ministry officials also assured that there has been no data breach on the portal. Incidentally, Tuesday marks the first anniversary of the launch of the new income tax portal.

In the past one year, the functioning of the portal was hampered on several occasions, forcing the government to extend the due date for filing tax returns and related forms for all taxpayers.

The new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in, launched on June 7, 2021, started from the very beginning with taxpayers and professionals reporting discrepancies and difficulties in its functioning. Infosys was awarded the contract to develop the portal in 2019.
