West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Suryakumar came out to open with Yadav Sharma. India’s start was cautious. But after Sky fell, and Iyer went for a duck, the Indian captain switched gears and smashed WI’s bowling attack all over the field.

He eventually played a brilliant innings of 64 runs in 44 balls. Following his dismissal, India lost track of the situation and went into a shell but Dinesh Karthik donned his finisher’s cap once again and scored 41 off just 19 balls to take the visitors to 190.

Chasing 191, West Indies were reduced to 42/3 inside the powerplay. The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could not advance at any point during the game.

The spinners did the trick for India as they were all great with their lines and length. Ravi Bishnoi in particular bowled brilliantly.

The next T20 will be played on Monday, 1 August at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.
