Suryakumar Yadav’s shares have risen since he made his Team India debut against England last year. In the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series against West Indies in Ahmedabad, Suryakumar scored 64 runs and proved his mettle once again after helping India recover from a top-order collapse. The 31-year-old hit five fours during his stay at the crease. However, it was the first of two fours that he hit Jason Holder in the 38th over that caught the attention of the fans and the fraternity.

The ball was bowled around the off-stump from the holder, and Suryakumar played on-drive effortlessly, hitting the fielder at mid-on.

Veteran commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle was impressed by Suryakumar’s Sahaj campaign. After seeing the shot, he praised the batsman fiercely.

Commenting in the second ODI, Bhogle said, “Stop what you’re doing and keep it on the loop. The kind of shot that separates you. Didn’t try to hit it at all.”

On the next ball, Suryakumar once again managed to find the boundary, pulling the holder between two men stationed in the deep on the leg-side.

India posted 43 for three at a time, after batting first, Suryakumar and KL Rahul (49) added 91 runs for the fourth wicket to make India a defendable 237 for 9.
