IND vs ZIM, 1st ODI Toss Report: India opts to bowl; Deepak Chahar returns after injury layoff

Team after defeating England and West Indies at their home India Reached Zimbabwe to continue the winning streak. The Men in Blue will take on the hosts in the first ODI of the series in Harare on Thursday. India is touring Zimbabwe after a gap of six years. Back in 2016, when India toured Zimbabwe, KL Rahul made his white-ball debut and now, he is back as the Indian captain. He will have the support of Shikhar Dhawan who has been named as the vice-captain for the series.

Meanwhile, India won the toss and decided to bowl first at Harare Sports Park. Captain Rahul confirmed that pacer Deepak Chahar is also making a comeback with this game.

“We will bowl first. Looks like a good wicket, it’s an early start, so there could be some moisture. Good opportunity to bowl first and take advantage of the first hour. Lots of people have got opportunities, good chance to challenge themselves and their skills. Looking forward to a good show. He (Deepak Chahar) was unfortunate to miss that long, excited to be back after a few injuries,” India captain KL Rahul said after winning the toss.

Zimbabwe captain, wicketkeeper-batsman Regis Chakabwa said that if the hosts had also won the toss, they would have bowled first.

“We would have bowled first too, but it looks like a good wicket and will hold true for the rest of the day. It’s something we’ve talked about (about the collapse of the top order), trying to sort it out. “We have Ngarwa and Marumani coming in,” said Zimbabwe captain Chakabwa.
