Let’s take a comprehensive look at how Indian contingent performed in their respective events on August 9, Day 14 of the Paris Olympics

The Indian contingent’s medal rush would continue on Friday, as the ever-talented Aman Sehrawat would bring more Olympic glory to India, clinching the Bronze in the Men’s 57kg Freestyle event to add another medal to India’s tally.

Sehrawat, who had suffered a crushing 10-0 loss on technical elimination, came back etermined than ever to take on a spirited Damien Toi Cruz of Cuba.

And after a fiery encounter, that woudl remain close till the halfway mark, Sehrawat would take over, as the Indian would dominate his opponent with takedowns at will, to put away the wily Puerto Rican and claim the medal.

With his victory, India’s tally at the Paris Olympics goes up to 6 medals, with 5 Bronze and 1 Silver.

Women’s Golf:

Aditi Ashok, who finished fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, started the day placed 14th in the rankings but ended the day tied at 40th place with a terrible outing which saw her finish the eighteen holes at a score of +7 which resulted in her total score falling from -1 to +6.

Diksha on the other hand, the 2021 gold medal winner at the Deaflympics, also struggled to get her footing on the day and fell down from 14th place to being tied at 42nd. Her performance on the day saw her note a score of +8 which took her differential to +7.

Men’s 4x400m Relay:

The Indian men’s 4x400m relay team failed to live up to expectations as it finished 10th overall in the heat race to miss a final round spot in the Paris Olympics on Friday.

The Indian quartet of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, Amoj Jacob and Rajesh Ramesh clocked a season’s best of 3 minutes and 0.58 seconds but that was enough only for a seventh-place finish in heat number 2 and 10th overall out of 16 teams.

Women’s 4x400m Relay:

The women’s 4x400m relay team also failed to qualify for the final round after finishing 15th overall out of 16 countries competed in the round one heats.

The quartet of Vithya Ramraj, Jyothika Sri Dandi, MR Poovamma and Subha Venkatesan clocked 3:32.51 to finish eighth and last in heat number two and 15th overall.

Men’s Wrestling 57kg Freestyle:

When it mattered the most, Aman Sehrawat shone the brightest as the Indian wrestler dominated Puerto Rico’s Darien Toi Cruz to clinch the Bronze medal in the Men’s 57kg Freestyle event at the Paris Olympics on Friday.

Aman, who suffered a crushing 10-0 loss to Japan’s Higuchi Rei previously, came back strong to dominate the Puerto Rican in a bout that ended 13-5 in favour of the Indian.
