Research collaboration between Indian and Australian universities will also be enhanced, while dual degree programs have been introduced between India and Australia.
Provisions have also been made under the deal, which will pave the way for the initiation of dialogue between professional bodies from India and Australia on MRAs in nursing, architecture and other services. This in turn will speed up the movement of workers between the two countries. There are already around 1,500 CAs operating under the MRA in Australia.
In addition, Australia has offered work and holiday visas with multiple entry by 1,000 Indians aged 18-30 for a period of one year. This is to ensure that they can study or train for up to four months (17 weeks) or have paid or unpaid employment for the entire duration of their stay in Australia.
IndAus ECTA will also look at the movement of IT professionals from Australia to India with an aim to enhance the Australian startup ecosystem, which requires specialized talent – something that India can boast of. Under the agreement, large Indian IT companies can increase their participation in Australian government projects.
The agreement also allows Australians to access Indian secondary and tertiary care facilities at highly competitive rates. It will develop India as a medical tourism hub as per the provisions of the deal.
