India, China agree to hold next round of talks soon

India and China on Tuesday agreed to hold the next round of senior commanders’ meeting at the earliest to achieve complete freedom from all friction points in eastern Ladakh and to create conditions for restoration of normalcy in bilateral ties.

In the meeting held under the framework of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs, both sides reviewed the situation in eastern Ladakh.

“The two sides exchanged views on the current situation along the LAC in the western sector in eastern Ladakh,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

“They agreed that, as directed by the two foreign ministers, the two sides should resolve the remaining issues along the LAC at the earliest to create conditions for the restoration of normalcy in bilateral relations,” the Ministry of External Affairs said.
