The daily number of fresh cases in India has increased almost 9 times in the last 10 days, from 6,515 on December 26 to 58,097 on January 5. Seeing this as a big challenge, there has been a spurt in Covid-19 cases in the country. At a time when the campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections is gaining momentum. Leaders like Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa have tested positive amid a surge in election rallies. Amid the rise in COVID cases, the Congress has decided to postpone its major rallies in the poll-bound states. The UP Congress has also written to the Election Commission to postpone the big rallies.
