China continues to build “dual-use” border villages and military residences along the LAC near Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. It has also intensified its integrated military exercises and mobilized reserve forces in that area. India, in turn, is ensuring full operational preparedness to deal with any contingency along the border. India is also working towards mitigating the menace of the vulnerable Siliguri Corridor or “Chicken Neck” linking the northeastern states. Advanced L-70 air defense guns and other weapon systems deployed along the Line of Actual Control near Tawang area in Arunachal Pradesh. Several PLA reserve formations raised last year remain in “depth areas” along the 1,346-km border on the Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim border. The government is contemplating to review the border agreement with China in the wake of the 17-month-old military confrontation in eastern Ladakh.
