India reports 34,113 new Kovid-19 cases in last 24 hours, 346 deaths

India’s daily new Covid-19 cases saw a further drop in cases as the country reported 34,113 new Covid cases on Monday, according to a data update from the Union Health Ministry. Additionally, the country reported 346 in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s COVID death toll to 509,011, health ministry data showed.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the daily new COVID-19 cases in the country fell below 50,000 after nearly 40 days, taking the country’s virus tally to 4,26,31,421, while the active cases dropped to 5,37,045, the central government said. According to the Ministry of Health, the figures were updated on Sunday.

India reported 44,877 infections, while the death toll rose to 5,08,665 with 684 fresh deaths, data updated at 8 am.

A total of 37,379 people had tested positive for the infection in a single day on January 4. The daily COVID-19 cases were less than one lakh recorded for seven consecutive days.

Active cases comprise 1.26 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 97.55 per cent, the ministry said. A decrease of 73,398 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in the 24-hour period.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.
