India sends 5 lakh Covid-19 vaccines to Afghanistan – Times of India

It said another consignment of an additional 500,000 doses of the vaccine would be supplied to Afghanistan in the coming weeks.
The consignment was sent to Kabul by Mahan Air flight of Iran.
“Today, India supplied the next batch of humanitarian aid containing 500,000 doses of the Covid Vaccine (COVAXIN) to Afghanistan. It was handed over to the Indira Gandhi Hospital, Kabul,” the MEA said in a statement.
“An additional 500,000 doses will be supplied in the coming weeks,” it said.
The MEA said that India has committed to provide humanitarian aid consisting of food grains, one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine and essential life-saving medicines to the Afghan people.
“In the coming weeks, we will work on the supply of wheat and the remaining medical assistance. In this regard, we are in contact with UN agencies and others to finalize the mode of transport.”
India has already announced that it will send 50,000 tonnes of wheat and medicines to Afghanistan via road transport via Pakistan. India and Pakistan are now finalizing the modalities of transportation of the consignment.

It hosted a regional dialogue on Afghanistan on 10 November in which the NSAs of Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan participated.
The participating countries vowed to work towards ensuring that Afghanistan does not become a safe haven for global terrorism and called for an “open and truly inclusive” government in Kabul with representation from all sections of Afghan society. called for the formation.
