India-US 2+2 talks begin today; All you need to know

To promote the strategic partnership between the two countries, there will be a 2+2 ministerial dialogue between India and the US on Sunday. The fourth India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue will be held from April 10-15.

The Indian delegation will be led by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and the US will be represented by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

According to the Defense Minister, he will visit the headquarters of the US Indo-Pacific Command (Indopacom) In Hawaii as part of the trip.

INDOPACOM is America’s oldest and largest combatant command responsible for US military activities in the Indo-Pacific, a region that is seeing increasing Chinese military muscle resilience.

INDOPACOM Commander Admiral John Aquilino had visited India in August last year during which he held extensive talks with the country’s top military officials on enhancing bilateral military cooperation.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Thursday that Jaishankar will visit the US from April 11 to 12.

The emerging situation in Ukraine is expected to be discussed in the fourth edition of the talks.

“The dialogue will enable both sides to comprehensively review cross-cutting issues on the India-US bilateral agenda related to foreign policy, defense and security, with the aim of providing strategic guidance and vision to further strengthen the relationship,” he said. . “The 2 2 Dialogue will provide an opportunity to exchange views about important regional and global developments and how we can work together to address issues of common interest and concern,” he said.
