India will allow international flights from all countries from December 15

Restrictions on the number of flights from a country will depend on its health risk status.

India will allow international flights from all countries from December 15, but there will be restrictions on the number of flights from a country based on health risk conditions.

“The Competent Authority has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India with effect from December 15, 2021,” the Ministry of Civil Aviation said in an order issued today.

“Due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the capacity will be as per the category of eligible countries based on the list of at-risk countries by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from time to time,” it adds.

Countries excluded from the health ministry’s list of “at risk” countries will be allowed 100% of pre-COVID-19 flights. These include countries like America, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand.

Countries that are on the “at risk” list but have air bubble arrangements in India will be allowed 75% of the pre-COVID-19 capacity. These include countries like UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore.

Countries that are on the “at risk” list but do not have air bubbles in India will be allowed only 50% pre-COVID flight. These include South Africa, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Israel.
