Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru Thursday, March 23, 2023, on Martyr’s Day.

This day is celebrated on the occasion of his death anniversary.

The three freedom fighters were killed in what is known as the ‘Lahore Conspiracy’ case by the British in 1931, and their story of sacrifice and heroism is considered one of the most inspirational chapters of the Indian independence movement.

Mr Modi tweeted, “India will always remember the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. These are the great heroes who made an incomparable contribution to our freedom struggle.”

The Prime Minister also posted a clip of his earlier addresses praising the three freedom fighters.

‘A towering intellectual’: PM praises Lohia

PM Modi paid tributes to socialist icon Ram Manohar Lohia on his birth anniversary, hailing him as a great intellectual and a prolific thinker who contributed significantly to India’s freedom struggle.

In a separate tweet, Mr Modi said: “He was a prolific intellectual and prolific thinker, who made significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle and later as a dedicated leader and parliamentarian. We are working hard to fulfill his dream of a strong India.

Born in 1910, Lohia enriched socialist politics with his ideas rooted in grassroots and mass politics and was also instrumental in leading a coalition of opposition parties to challenge the then dominant Congress party.
