India will lead the world in technology: Rajeev Chandrasekhar

New Delhi Minister of State (MoS) for Electronics and Information Technology Rajiv Chandrashekhar on Tuesday said that India will soon emerge as a leader in electronics manufacturing in the world, with youth playing a big role in this endeavour.

“PM Modi’s vision of India Ke Tekde can be realized by our young Indians through their hard work, determination and enterprise. The government on its part can be enabled only with initiatives like Digital India, Skill India etc,” Chandrashekhar said while addressing the students of Saurashtra University and Atmiya Vishwavidyalaya in Rajkot.

Emphasizing that the government’s strategy is to encourage “deeper and wider” expansion of the electronics space through investments in semiconductors, AI, machine learning, blockchain etc., the minister said, “For this purpose, the government will provide was ready for 100 crore for investment in semiconductor design.

Stating that he would soon start road shows in different parts of the country to encourage entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities, Chandrashekhar said that our strategy is to cut imports and be a value creator for the supply and value chain. Referring to Gujarat’s initiatives in the electronics sector, Chandrashekhar said that the state has taken several proactive steps like announcing its semicon policy and establishing Dholera as Asia’s largest electronics hub. “PM Modi is building a new India for young India with new ambitions so that we can achieve our goal of a USD 1 trillion digital economy / USD 5T economy and as a reliable partner in technology can also emerge. Chandrashekhar also met several young startups and entrepreneurs at Marwari University and discussed with them their apps/innovations and how they can be scaled into marketable products.

The Minister, who is on a two-day official visit to Rajkot and Surendranagar since yesterday, met students, entrepreneurs, startups, industry leaders, academicians and other eminent personalities and shared Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to empower all Indians.
