Indian Air Force operation continues to rescue Italian climber stranded on Mount Nun in Ladakh

New Delhi: The Indian Air Force on Friday launched a rescue operation to rescue an Italian climber, Federico Nicoli, who is stranded on Mountain Nun in Ladakh.

“We received a request from the government of the Union Territory of Ladakh for the rescue operation of an Italian national. The operation is underway,” Wing Commander Ashish Moghe told ThePrint. The operation was on when ThePrint spoke to the force.

The IAF has deployed its ‘Cheetah’ helicopter for the rescue operation.

When asked about the climber’s health, Moghe said, “There is no clear indication as to what is wrong with him.” The Wing Commander also said that it is not yet certain whether other people are trapped on the top of the mountain. According to Wing Commander Moghe, the IAF has received the request for only one person.

“The Indian Air Force is leaving no stone unturned to rescue the climber,” Moghe said.
