Kathmandu: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey was conferred with the title of Honorary General of Nepal Army by Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari in Kathmandu on Monday.
Gen Pandey was felicitated during his ongoing visit to the Himalayan nation at a special ceremony at the President’s official residence ‘Sheetal Niwas’ in the Nepalese capital.
“General Manoj Pandey, Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army was conferred with the title of Honorary General of the Nepalese Army by Rt Hon. President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari on 5 September 2022, Smt. He was honored at a special ceremony at ‘Sheetal Niwas’, the official residence of the President in Kathmandu. A sword and scroll were also presented to him during the ceremony,” the Indian embassy said in a statement.
The practice follows a seven-decade-old tradition of decorating each other’s country’s army chiefs with honorary titles.

On behalf of the Government of India, General Manoj Pandey provided training equipment to the Nepalese Army along with light vehicles that would enhance the capabilities of the Nepalese Army personnel.
