Indian, Australian PM to watch final Test match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian PM Anthony Albanese will watch the first day of the final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad on March 9.

Australian High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell told ANI on Monday that the Australian Prime Minister will be on a three-day visit to India from March 8 and will visit Mumbai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi.

He told ANI that PM Modi and Australian PM Albanese will watch the first day of the fourth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia in Ahmedabad on March 9.

“The one thing that binds the two countries is cricket and it would be great to see the leaders of India and Australia in Ahmedabad on the first day of the match,” he said.

The fourth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will begin in Ahmedabad from March 9.

India is currently leading 2-1 in the series. If they win the final Test, they will qualify for the final of the ICC World Test Championship, where they will face Australia from June 7 in London.

India won the first Test in Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs. They followed this up with a six-wicket win in the Second Test in Delhi. Both the Tests ended in a space of three days.

Australia staved off the prospect of suffering a whitewash by winning the third Test in Indore by nine wickets inside three days.

Australia’s High Commissioner to India also informed that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will also participate in the Holi festival celebrations.
